Song and Dance

  • Numerica Performing Arts Center 123 North Wenatchee Avenue Wenatchee, WA, 98801 United States

We will listen to how dance and song influenced orchestral literature, specifically Johannes Brahms’ use of fraternity drinking songs, Giovanni Pergolesi’s famous chiding opera aria and Charles Gounod’s ballet music from his grand opera, Faust. Washington native Stephen Beus will perform one of the most popular concertos in the repertory, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Brahms’ boisterous Academic Festival Overture and Gounod’s expressive Faust: Ballet Music are the featured orchestral works. 2016 Young Musician Competition winner Téa Renee Ning LaFleur will be featured as she sings Stizzoso, mio stizzoso from Pergolesi’s comic opera La serva padrona.

Please attend the Concert Prelude at 6:00 pm in the Numerica Performing Arts Center theatre. The Prelude features Music Director Nikolas Caoile in an entertaining and informative talk about the works being performed.
