YOUNG MUSICIAN COMPETITION

The Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Angela Schuster Svendsen Memorial Young Musician Competition. First place winner is violinist Keeley Brooks. Second place winner is vocalist Chloë Forsyth. You may hear Keeley perform as a soloist with the orchestra in a concert this fall, and Chloë will be featured at the Sweetheart Musical Soiree next February. Congratulations to the talented winners!

If you are a music student who takes private lessons or participates in a school music program, we encourage you to enter this competition for a chance to earn the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the WVSO and receive a significant college scholarship!

The 2019 Angela Schuster Svendsen Memorial Young Musician Competition will be held in the spring of 2019. 

ELIGIBILITY - The Competition is open to North Central Washington musicians residing in Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan Counties. Previous first place winners are ineligible.

Competitive division – Students who will be entering grades 10-12 in the fall of 2019 may compete for the $1,000 first place and $500 second place prizes. In addition to prize money, the first place winner will be invited to perform their concerto with the symphony in a fall 2019 symphony concert.

Non-competitive division – Students who will be entering grades 7-9 in the fall of 2019 may participate for experience and adjudication only and are not eligible for prizes.
